~ Did you know… “that cancer cells need sugar to thrive? When you consume sugar-laden foods, your pancreas’ beta cells produce insulin. By consuming sugar excessively, an overproduction of insulin may occur and you may become immune to its effects. Reducing sugar intake and normalizing your insulin levels can lower your risk of cancer.” - Dr. Joseph Mercola

These are the items I used on a daily basis in my recipes.

Organic Shredded, Unsweetened Coconut — Unsweetened, 100%-natural, finely shredded dehydrated coconut. Certified USDA organic; vegetarian/vegan; sulfite-free; cholesterol-free.

Organic Coconut Flour — 100% organic coconut flour is a good source of protein, gluten free, high in fiber and low in digestible carbohydrates.

Almond Flour/Meal — Made from 100% all-natural blanched whole almonds. Almond Meal/Flour is simply skinless, blanched almonds that have been finely ground. It lends a moist texture and rich, buttery flavor to cakes, cookies, muffins, sweet breads and a host of other desserts. It is also superb as a breading for meats and vegetables. Almond Meal/Flour is low in carbohydrates and a good source of protein, fiber, Vitamin E, and magnesium.

Raw Organic Almond Butter — 100% organic raw almonds. No additives such as sugar or salt. Almond butter has 79% more healthy fats and 1/2 the saturated fat of peanut butter. An excellent source of protein and is high in Vitamin E and Manganese. Organic, macrobiotic, vegan, raw, kosher and gluten-free.

Muir Glen Organic Diced Tomatoes — The lining of Muir Glen cans are produced without BPA. “The resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol-A, or BPA, a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to ailments ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Studies show that the BPA in most people’s bodies exceeds the amount that suppresses sperm production or causes chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals. You can get 50 micrograms of BPA per liter out of a tomato can, and that’s a level that is going to impact people, particularly the young. Choose tomatoes in glass bottles (which do not need resin linings), such as the brands Eden Organic and Bionaturae. You can also get several types in Tetra Pak boxes, such as Trader Joe’s and Pomi.” http://www.rodale.com/food-ingredients-avoid

100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup — Maple syrup is an excellent source of manganese and a good source of zinc. The trace mineral manganese is an essential for energy production and antioxidant defenses. Zinc and manganese are also important allies in the immune system. Most traditional pancake syrups contain added salt, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup and sodium benzoate. Both corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup are potential GM (genetically modified) ingredients.

There are two varieties of maple syrup to choose from, USDA Grade A and Grade B. Grade A is the most popular, with a light maple flavor and a relatively thin consistency. It’s a good choice for pancakes, and can make a great topping for desserts and other foods.

Grade B maple syrup is much darker and has a stronger flavor. It also is a bit thicker, tending towards the consistency of pancake syrup rather than the runnier Grade A. Grade B is often recommended for baking because its stronger flavor comes through more readily, but it can be a better choice for pancakes or waffles than Grade A if you are a fan of the flavor of maple in general. The two are interchangeable as far as what will work in a recipe that calls for maple syrup. Grade C maple syrup, it is now called Grade B. Thus, Grade B & C are the same.

  • Premium Grade B
  • Certified organic by QAI
  • Certified Kosher
  • No artificial flavors, preservatives or dyes
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging

Grass-Fed Beef Snack Sticks — Ingredients: Beef, water, Redmond Seasoned Salt (sea salt, onion, coriander, spices, mustard, black pepper, paprika, herbs), lactic acid, celery juice. No Additives. No Preservatives. No MSG. No Antibiotics. No Hormones. No Fillers. No Red Dye #3 in stick casings (nearly all traditional sticks use Red #3 – yuck!). There really is a big difference between grass fed beef, and grain/corn fed beef. Cattle were meant to eat grass, not grain. Until the mid 1940’s cattle were fattened on grass, not grain and corn. There’s a reason for that … cattle are herbivores, not carnivores. This means they were designed to eat grass not grain, corn, antibiotics and growth hormones … all of which are too common in today’s beef. But when a cow eats only grass and grass products, the beef is nutritious and high in Omega-3’s and CLA’s to help fight heart disease and cancer.

Organic Raw Almonds — We use these to make homemade trail mix.

Organic Walnuts — We use these for trail mix and baking.

Raw Pecan Halves — All-natural, organic pecan halves. We use these for trail mix and baking.

Navitas Naturals Goji Berries — Goji berries are filled with powerful antioxidants and other compounds that may help prevent cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants may also boost the immune system and lower cholesterol.  These berries can be eaten alone as a snack or used in recipes like oatmeal, cookies, cereal, and trail mix.

  • Raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan and 100% certified organic
  • Berries have a soft, chewy texture and can easily be re-hydrated if desired

Navitas Naturals, Raw Chocolate Powder, Organic — Cacao is a top source of antioxidants, and it contains an abundance of magnesium and iron.  This cacao is a healthy alternative to conventional over-processed “cocoa” used for baking, hot chocolate, desserts and smoothies.  We use this when we make chocolate milkshakes.

Nutiva Organic Chia Seeds — Chia Seeds are loaded with omega fats, protein, antioxidants and dietary fiber. They have a mild nutty flavor, and since they absorb liquid, they’re ideal for hydration and feeling full.  Can be used in smoothies, beverages, granola, oatmeal and yogurt.  We use these in our smoothies and no one knows they are in there.

Manitoba Harvest Organic Shelled Hemp Hearts —  These hemp hearts have a pleasant nutty flavor, similar to sunflower seeds and can be eaten right out of the bag.  Shelled Hemp Seed is an excellent source of the Omega 6 & 3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and delivers these EFAs in a balanced 3.75:1 ratio. Shelled Hemp Seed contains the rare fatty acid Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA). Beyond this, Shelled Hemp Seed is a super source of protein, containing all the Essential Amino Acids.  Can be used as a topping for salads, cereal and yogurt. It is also used as an ingredient for nutrition bars and baking.

Essential Flaxseed (Organic) — Essential Flaxseed (Organic) is a perfect choice as a dietary fiber supplement to encourage proper digestion and regularity with all the added benefit of lignans. Flax lignans might lower your cancer risk by preventing pre-cancerous cellular changes, as well as slow down the progression and movement of cancer cells. The American Cancer Society reports that lignans may help to reduce the growth of hormone-related cancers including prostate, breast and ovarian cancer, though more human research is needed.  Information provided by LIVESTRONG.com.  Can be used as a topping for cereal and yogurt.  We also use it in baked goods and smoothies.  As with all dietary supplements consult your healthcare professional before use.

Healthforce Vitamineral Green V5.2 , Powder — Vitamineral Green is a superior, nutritionally dense therapeutic green superfood powder that contains a full spectrum of naturally occurring, absorbable and non-toxic vitamins, minerals and all essential amino acids.  It supports blood sugar, detoxification, the immune system, liver, kidneys, blood, bones, colon, regularity, circulation and longevity.  The taste definitely takes getting used to — it is strong.  Check out my smoothies section for ideas to incorporate this superfood into your daily diet.  The key is to start with small doses and work yourself up to the full dose.

Garden of Life Garden of Life Raw Organic Protein — This is a very high quality, plant based protein that is gluten free, vegan, dairy free and Non-GMO project certified. It is made with a blend of raw sprouted bio-available protein from brown rice, amaranth, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, garbanzo beans, lentils, adzuki, flax, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, chia seed, and sesame seed sprouts. This is a great one to choose because of the varieties of plant food used.  Check out my smoothies section for ideas to incorporate this protein into your daily diet.

Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil — One of the “good fats,” which makes up about 50 percent of coconut oil, is lauric acid. Lauric acid is a rare medium-chain fatty acid found in mother’s milk. It is now being shown to have anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial, health-protecting properties. Some researchers predict that lauric acid will one day become as well known in health circles as omega-3 is today.  As studies reveal the downsides of consuming too many omega-6 vegetable oils with their saturated fatty acids, coconut oil is making a comeback.  Ingredients: Organic extra-virgin coconut oil.

• Certified organic and non-GMO
• Made from fresh coconuts, not dried copra
• Cold-pressed
• Unrefined
• Unbleached
• Unhydrogenated
• No Solvents

Artisana 100% Organic Raw Coconut Oil Extra Virgin — Can be used for cooking, baking and beauty. This non-hydrogenated, cholesterol-free oil is a natural source of medium-chain fatty acids which are broken efficiently by the body, delivering an immediate source of energy. When cooking or baking, it can be used as a substitute for butter or margarine. With a light, fresh fragrance, it is also an excellent beauty oil. This natural moisturizer nourishes the skin.

  1. Coconut oil can be used as sunscreen, but does allow some uv light in for vitamin d production. Also, coconut oil can help with fungal infections of the nails on feet or toes. In addition, check out research being done at the university of tampa on meduim chain triglycerides which coconut oil contains in helping dementia patients. I suggest you view Mary Newport M.D.’s You Tube video and her experience with coconut oil and her husband’s dementia.
